Twisted at The Wharf Now Open
A new pretzel shop called Twisted at The Wharf is now open and serving up a variety of soft pretzels, sandwiches made on pretzel rolls, and lemonade. Pretzel-lovers everywhere will celebrate their ¼ pound hotdog in a pretzel! The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 12pm to 6pm.
Located near Maine Avenue across from the Municipal Fish Market, the walk-up shop is a mission-based company, owned and operated by Mark Dorigan who is also CEO of Hoffman & Associates, which is the company formerly known as PN Hoffman, which planned and developed the District Wharf.
Operating under the slogan “Where Pretzels Make a Difference,” Twisted seeks to empower individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities in achieving independence through both on-the-job training and by providing support to local organizations with similar goals.
A message on the Twisted website says the company “hires individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for five-month internships twice each year. Our goal is to provide these individuals with food service and customer service experience in a supportive, learning environment.”
Twisted joins other mission-driven businesses at the Wharf such as Falafel Inc. and Hank’s Oyster Bar.
The addition of Twisted is welcome news for Wharf residents and visitors in search of cost-effective food options. No item is priced higher than $6.50 on the menu that includes:
