All Fun and Games at Boardwalk

The highly anticipated Boardwalk Bar & Arcade is now officially open. The space formerly occupied by Anchor is now home to pinball, video games, and skeeball in addition to summertime inspired food and drink. 

But first the games. Yes, some of the classics are present including Pac Man, Buck Hunter, and pinball. Kids of all ages can find Super Mario Karts, a giant claw game, Connect 4 Hoops, Dance Dance Revolution, and shuffleboard. There is also a creepy whack-a-clown game that could be used instead of costly therapy. Boardwalk is cashless, so instead of dollar bills, they use reloadable cash cards. Each game is about $1 per play. Boardwalk is kid friendly, but minors must be accompanied by an adult.

The Boardwalk space is vast and includes family style picnic table seating options. There are a couple of secluded themed bar areas including the Surf-Shack bar area that features a crescent shaped bar, high top tables, and a lounge area adorned with surfboards and beach photos.

The menu is reminiscent of what you would expect from a boardwalk bar; pizza, corn dogs, hot dogs, cotton candy, and sandwiches. The drink selection ranges from signature cocktails like the boardwalk mojito and the Cortez margarita. The beer selection ranges from lite beer to fancier IPAs and porters. Boardwalk is also featuring a series of frozen drinks machines that churn out pina coladas and frozé. 

The bar/arcade is a brainchild of Ryan Seelbach, CEO of Better Hospitality Group (BHG), the D.C.-based bar & restaurant company that also owns and operates Takoda, Cortez, and The Boardwalk Bar & Eatery in Penn Quarter. 

Boardwalk is accepting bookings for private and semi-private events and parties.  Requests for special events can be made at events@boardwalkwharf.com.

Later this year, Seelbach and his BHG team will open an indoor/outdoor wine bar called Easy Company, which will be located adjacent to The Grill. The location will feature an outdoor Frozé Garden.
