Gelato Returns to the District Wharf

Get ready for the return of gelato at the Wharf.  Pitango, a Baltimore company making authentic Italian gelato, promises to transport locals and visitors alike to the streets of Italy. Located in the Amaris (the space previously slated for Blank Street Coffee), Pitango is set to delight the senses and become a fun gathering spot for the community.

The company was created by Noah Dan in 2007, a passionate gelato aficionado with roots in Italy. Since then, Pitango has gained a devoted following in the DMV for its commitment to traditional Italian flavors and artisanal craftsmanship. With locations in Baltimore, Penn Quarter, Columbia Heights, and Bethesda, the brand has perfected the art of creating gelato that captures the essence of Italy.

Dan, who fell in love with Italian gelato during his travels in Italy, was inspired to bring that authentic experience to the United States. After years of refining his craft and sourcing the finest ingredients, he opened his first Pitango in Baltimore. Since then, the brand has continued to grow, maintaining a dedication to quality and flavor that sets it apart.

The Wharf location, set against the backdrop of the scenic waterfront, is poised to become a beloved destination for both residents and tourists. With its inviting, rustic-chic interior and outdoor seating, it’s the perfect place to savor a cup of handcrafted gelato while taking in the stunning views of the Washington Channel.

Pitango’s menu is a testament to their commitment to authenticity. From classic flavors like Stracciatella and Pistachio to more adventurous options like Blood Orange and Dark Chocolate Sorbet, every spoonful is a journey through the diverse culinary landscape of Italy. The ingredients are sourced from the finest purveyors, and each batch is churned with precision to achieve the perfect texture and taste.

In addition to gelato, Pitango also boasts a carefully curated coffee program. Guests can enjoy expertly brewed espresso and cappuccino, along with a selection of pastries and Italian treats. It’s the ideal spot for a leisurely morning coffee or a post-dinner dessert.

No opening date yet but locals are eagerly counting down the days until they can savor a taste of Italy without leaving the city. Pitango’s commitment to quality and the genuine flavors of Italy makes it a perfect fit for the Wharf’s vibrant culinary scene. As the opening day approaches, Washingtonians can hardly wait to step into this Italian oasis and savor the sweet taste of Pitango’s gelato, bringing a slice of Italy to the heart of the nation’s capital. Get ready, because the Wharf is about to get a little more delicious.
