Atlantic Building Gets Two New Restaurants; Azzouz Brothers Bringing Urban Roast to Wharf

The food options at the District Wharf continue to expand and soon several new restaurants will open offering a wide range of cuisines.  The Atlantic building will host two restaurants, the first is by high end restaurant group Artfarm called Fish Shop, the other is an expansion of Pluma Bakery. Speaking of expanding, the brothers Azzouz are doubling down on the Wharf and bringing their Urban Roast to the DC waterfront adjacent to their recently opened Zooz Cocktail Bar.  As we’ve previously reported, Fogo de Chao will also open this summer on Maine Ave. in the Williams & Connolly building.

Fish Shop by Artfarm

Fish Shop by Artfarm makes its grand debut on the ground floor of the Atlantic Building at 610 Water Street, SW.  The restaurant will have 189 seats and a total capacity of 214 inside the premises with outdoor dining that will accommodate 72 seats and a capacity of 86.

The restaurant is an expansion from the heart of Scotland where it provides sustainably sourced, locally produced, seafood.  The menu features dishes such as Spelt and fermented mushroom risotto with goat’s curd, Macduff lobster tagliolini with chili, garlic and chervil, and Roast cod with Oban scallop, slow cooked peas and preserved lemon.

Parent company, Artfarm seeks to combine art, education and food with its restaurants including sustainable designs and local suppliers.

Pluma Bakery

Wharf residents and visitors will soon be able to enjoy a new breakfast and lunch option as Pluma expands its cafe operation from NE to SW DC and will be located next to Politics and Prose also at the Atlantic building. Pluma Bakery brings European-style pastries, breads, sandwiches, and coffees to the Wharf.

The pastries category includes croissants, scones, cookies, and muffins. Especially exciting is the opportunity for locals to get fresh baked breads. Pluma offers baguette, sourdough, and multigrain breads. On the sandwich front, customers can find breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, croque madame, and chicken and tuna sandwiches.

Urban Roast

Urban Roast, a popular Penn Quarter haven for boozy brunch and coffee concoctions is expanding to the Wharf.  This chic café brings a modern twist to classic brunch fare, pairing locally roasted coffees with inventive dishes that highlight seasonal ingredients.

Customers will enjoy perfectly brewed espresso alongside avocado toast topped with poached eggs and locally sourced microgreens. The restaurant will be located on the ground floor of the Amaris building adjacent to Zooz Cocktail Bar.

Whether you’re grabbing a quick caffeine fix or settling in for a leisurely brunch, Urban Roast promises a cozy atmosphere and unforgettable flavors.
