Moving Forward At The Wharf
What a difference a week makes. Just a few days ago we were anticipating big events at The Wharf like “Ireland at The Wharf” and upcoming celebrations for Cherry Blossom season. Today, we are all dealing with the reality of a coronavirus and its impact on our lives. As a result, many of the businesses at the Wharf are closed or are operating on a limited basis.
We have made the decision to continue to serve the community as best we can by providing important information about available resources, supporting the merchants, and finding opportunities for levity where appropriate.
For the foreseeable future, our content will continue to tell the story of our neighborhood and the people who make it great. We will not stray from this mission. Without the people, the Wharf is just well-appointed concrete and water.
We will provide updates about the people living at The Wharf, on land and on boats, and how they are getting along during this time. While many of the people who work at The Wharf won’t be here, we will continue to try to tell their stories as well.
Nobody knows for sure when all this will be over or what exactly is coming. We do know there are challenging days ahead. We have begun creating some resources available to everyone including our guide to food options at The Wharf for Pickup and Delivery; and the guide to supporting Wharf Bartenders and Servers Now.
To everyone remaining in the Wharf neighborhood, we say, “Wharf Life DC is here and we are committed to providing our neighborhood news and information.”
To the businesses that made the necessary decision to close indefinitely, we say, “Wharf Life DC will be here when you return.”
We are all in this together.
Be safe and do the right thing.
