Steaks, Tacos and Frozé Coming to The Wharf
Several new restaurants are opening soon at the District Wharf. We are looking forward to steaks, tacos, and frozé with the opening of Hell’s Kitchen, Bartaco, and Easy Company.
Hell’s Kitchen
Hell’s Kitchen makes its debut at the District Wharf this week. Fans of the restaurant, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, and his hit television show Hell’s Kitchen have been seen mingling outside of the property, taking selfies, and eager for the restaurant to open.
Restaurant reviews on TripAdvisor are strong, based on 3,075 reviews and a 4.5 star rating. So, what’s all the fuss about? Hell’s Kitchen restaurants are known for their Beef Wellington. Love for the signature dish among the TripAdvisor reviews are mostly strong.
ProTip: Order the Prix Fixe, which includes a choice between seared scallops or golden beet salad; Beef Wellington; and, sticky toffee pudding. At the Wharf that will cost $89.95 or $154.95 with wine pairing. The full menu can be found at Hell’s Kitchen menu.
Bartaco
Bartaco is expected to have its soft opening on Monday January 23rd and open for all later in the week. Taco Tuesday anyone? The Bartaco culture is specialty cocktails crafted with fresh-squeezed juices, beer out of a bottle and hand-held foods delivered on metal trays. The tacos include delicious options such as glazed pork belly, sesame ribeye, and roasted duck. There is also a “not-taco” menu where options such as roasted half chicken, street corn, and chicken tortilla soup can be found. There is also a line of rice bowls as well as dessert.
ProTip: Each month, Bartaco offers an off-the-menu secret taco, which can be found on social media at #bartacosecret. If you want to try it you need to ask your server for it specifically. Don’t tell anyone, but this month’s #bartacosecret is crispy avocado taco. It is described as “tempura battered crispy + creamy avocado on a tangy + crunchy veracruz slaw topped with a bright cilantro vinaigrette and sprinkled with cotija cheese.”
Bartaco does not use traditional wait staff at its locations, instead customers are encouraged to order their food via QR codes digitally. Diners can pay and check out digitally. Sample Bartacto menu.
Easy Company
On the other end of the Wharf, a wine bar appears to be nearing completion of construction. In fact, tables and chairs are set, the bar is being stocked, so hopefully Easy Company will soon announce its opening. It is described as a “piazza-style wine bar” inspired by cafe-bars across Europe, and will serve house draft wines and popular frozen drinks. Easy Company is part of Better Hospitality Group, which also owns Boardwalk Bar & Arcade at the Wharf. The menu at Easy Company will include burgers, steak frites, flatbreads, cheese charcuterie boards, and more with bottomless brunch available on the weekends. Easy Company is located at Blair Alley next to The Grill.
Recently Opened:
Kilwins, a purveyor of fudge, chocolates, ice cream and other sweets is now open at the Wharf. Located at the breezeway off Riley Street in Phase 2. The sweets store is bright and clean with a very friendly staff. Check out their Valentines Day chocolates!
Georgetown Optician, a high end shop for stylish eyeglasses. The Wharf location is the fifth for the DC based company that has locations in Georgetown, Tysons, 14th Street, and Eastern Market.
