Sushi Rolls, Bento Boxes, Ramen, Sake Now on Fat Fish Menu

Fat Fish, which opened in March of 2022 serving up insanely fresh poke bowls, has hired noted executive chef Lucas Irwin to keep the menu fresh and exciting. He’s already making an impact with a new menu that expands the Fat Fish menu from poke bowls and a few hand rolls to ramen, bento boxes, signature sushi rolls, and sake.  

Fat Fish, which is part of the family of restaurants that includes Toastique and Chopsmith, landed Chef Lucas following a stint at Naraya. A native of Hawaii, he has worked at high end restaurants in Palm Beach, Maui, Vail, and Nantucket. Chef Lucas says he has fallen in love with DC since moving here a few years ago, and has an especially deep affection for the Wharf neighborhood, which he also calls home.

What’s new: 

Bento Box:

Fat Fish is now offering three Bento Box options. Each comes with a salad and tempura fried shrimp, poke, a main dish and a mini taiyaki. The Bento options are delicious and filling.  

Fat Fish – Sweet Miso Salmon Bento Box

Sushi Bento – you choose a signature sushi roll as the main dish and comes with maui style poke, one tempura shrimp on green salad with cucumber carrots, edamame & ginger carrot miso dressing, topped off with a mini taiyaki. 

Black Pepper Truffle Crab Cake Bento comes with baked black pepper truffle crab cake over sushi rice, choice of poke, green ginger salad with carrots, cucumber, edamame, pickled onions, ginger carrot miso dressing, mini taiyaki. 

Sweet Miso Salmon Bento comes with cooked sweet miso glazed salmon over sushi rice, choice of poke, green ginger salad with carrots, cucumber, edamame, pickled onions, ginger carrot miso dressing, mini taiyaki.

Fat Fish now has a serious sushi roll operation, here are some of the highlights: 

Fat Fish Wharf Roll

Wharf Roll includes lump crab, avocado, sweet potato, topped with salmon, black pepper truffle aioli, unagi sauce, and crispy onions.

Spicy Tuna B.L.T. features spicy tuna, bacon, lettuce, cucumber, yum-yum sauce, topped with tomato. 

Garden Roll has sweet potato, shiso, ginger, asparagus, cucumber, beets, avocado, with a ponzu glaze.

 

 

 

Tonkotsu Ramen

Fat Fish ramen includes mushroom, pickled daikon, sun dried tomato, cabbage kimchi , sous vide egg, and bonito flakes. 

 

 

Sake/Beer

Chef Lucas points out sake and beer options

Fat Fish is now serving sake and beer to go with your bowl, roll, or poke. The sake ranges from single serving pop top cans or a full 750ml bottle.

The beers include two selections, Longboard Island Lager and Big Wave Golden Ale, both  from Chef’s home state of Hawaii.
