Hidden Figures Thursday and Friday at Wharf
This week’s Sunset Cinema feature film is the 2017 film Hidden Figures. As the United States raced against Russia to put a man in space, NASA found untapped talent in a group of African-American female mathematicians that served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in U.S. history. Based on the unbelievably true life stories of three of these women, known as “human computers”, we follow these women as they quickly rose the ranks of NASA alongside many of history’s greatest minds specifically tasked with calculating the momentous launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, and guaranteeing his safe return.
The first showing will be Thursday at 8 pm and the second showing will be on Friday at 8pm. Make your reservations at: Sunset Cinema
The movie can be seen on Transportation Pier near Cantina Bambina and is sponsored by Pacifico Beer. The weekly movie night provides a social distancing opportunity to enjoy a movie and dinner provided by several of the Wharf restaurants.
Reservations and a fee of $10, which are required, can be made by contacting Cantina Bambina. The fee gets you a private cabana, a serving of popcorn and a Pacifico Beer. There is a $20 minimum per person that can be used to purchase drinks from Bambina and/or food from Union Pie, Grazie Grazie, and Lupo Marino. That’s a good deal.
Movies start at 8pm but seating is available beginning at 7:30pm. Here’s the schedule:
